Five facts about Aston Villa signing Leandro Bacuna

Aston Villa

Leandro Bacuna is the latest rough diamond to be snapped up by Paul Lambert's Aston Villa.

Paul Lambert has a chance of really enhancing his reputation as a genius in the transfer market this summer, after his roaring success with Christian Benteke last summer.

Ashley Westwood was another excellent addition along with Ron Vlaar, while Mathew Lowton and less so Joe Bennett have also had their moments, along with tough times too in an up and down first season.

The club have acted quickly to secure a double deal, to sign Danish centre-back Jores Okore, and Leandro Bacuna - a little known player to English football fans.

So who is Bacuna, and what can we tell you about him? Here are five facts...

1) Bacuna is a 21-year-old midfield player who hails from Holland.

2) As well as a variety of midfield postions, Bacuna can also play as a right-back.

3) He has nine Holland under-21 caps, and one goal, and narrowly missed out on selection for this year's European Championships.

4) Bacuna signed from Groningen, where he played more than 100 times for the club, after making his debut in 2009.

5) He played 33 Eredivisie games for the club this season, scoring five goals and providing two assists.

Check him out in action...
