Could Jose Mourinho raid his old, old team for talent this summer?
Jose Mourinho is back at Chelsea and the ‘Happy One’ has acted quick in the transfer market by securing the return of several young talents from their respective loan deals.
And following his return to Stamford Bridge from Real Madrid many a former employee at the Bernabeu has been linked with following him from The Bernabeu to London for next season.
So while many ponder over the idea of Mourinho bringing Sami Khedira, Angel Di Maria or Gonzalo Higuain with him let us not forget that just three years ago he led Inter Milan to Serie A, Coppa Italia and Champions League triumphs for a glorious treble.
But could he bring any of those players with him to The Bridge?
We take a look at five potential options.
The general consensus is that Julio Cesar will leave QPR this summer after the clubs relegation from the Premier League. With a place in the Brazilian starting line-up for a home world cup up for grabs he is desperate to play top-flight football and Arsenal seems his likely destination.
However Cesar became a superstar under Mourinho and Chelsea need goalkeeper cover. If he doesn’t mind a fight for the number one jersey with Petr Cech then why not?
Another player who really flourished under Mourinho last season was disrupted by injury problems but in 2012 nobody scored more Serie A goals then the veteran Argentine; not even Edinson Cavani.
Possibly available on the cheap he could provide another striking option should various comings and goings at the club transpire.
This is the one doing the rounds in the press at the moment as Sneijder continuously sees himself linked with a move away from Galatasaray.
He was one of the best players in the world whilst being coached by Mourinho and would love to rediscover that magic touch in a league he has never played but long wanted to.
The Serbian cancelled his contract with Inter this week and while he may certainly be getting on a bit in age Mourinho is not afraid to bring in an experienced operator if they can do a job.
Keep him fit and he could be a solid utility player in the Premier League.
Jose Mourinho was the man who gave Newcastle United full-back Santon his first break in senior football and has demonstrated himself to be a thoroughly capable Premier League performer.
He could provide cover at both right-back and left-back and would likely jump at the chance for some Chelsea living.
Do you think any of these players could be on their way to Chelsea?
