PSG are reportedly considering making an approach for Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas as they look to find a replacement for Carlo Ancelotti this summer. The Italian manager is set to leave to go to Real Madrid to replace Jose Mourinho, having led PSG to the title and the quarter-finals of the Champions League last season.
Although Spurs missed out on Champions League football, Villas-Boas successfully rehabilitated his reputation in England after taking them to their highest points total in the Premier League despite the loss of several key players including Luka Modric and Ledley King.
There has been no indication from Villas-Boas he would be keen to leave White Hart Lane, with a big summer expected in the transfer market at Spurs as they look to force themselves into the top four next season. However PSG, with their seemingly unlimited resources and Champions League place might prove difficult to turn down. Whether his difficult time at Chelsea will make Villas-Boas wary of another big money club could be a key consideration.
Reports in Italy have suggested Spurs are interested in two Serie A midfielders, and that they have had a £17million bid for Fredy Guarin turned down by Inter.
The Colombian playmaker is reportedly coveted by a number of clubs, and Inter might hope that they can spark a bidding war for the 26-year-old, who enjoyed a fine season at the Italian club last year even as they finished outside the European places in Serie A.
Spurs are also being linked with Cagliari’s Belgian midfielder Radja Nainggolan, with the 25-year-old a target for a number of Italian clubs as well this summer. Roma, Inter and Napoli are all reportedly tracking Nainggolan, and what might interest Spurs fans is that Franco Baldini had led Roma’s negotiations for the player before he left the Italian club. Baldini is now widely expected to take on a post at Spurs, and he will play a prominent role in their transfer activity if he does.
Nainggolan is a tough-tackling defensive midfielder who could be brought in to replace Scott Parker in the squad, with the England international apparently a target for Fiorentina.
