Manchester United transfer news: Target speaks and double Barca swoop?

FC Barcelona

A select round-up of transfer news relating to Manchester United, including Robert Lewandowski, Cesc Fabregas and Thiago.

Despite yesterday’s reports that Borussia Dortmund would not sell Robert Lewandowski to Bayern Munich this summer, the Manchester United target believes the move is still possible.

Speaking at an event in Warsaw, the striker responded to claims from Dortmund’s president that there was no chance he would move to the Allianz Arena in 2013.

Who said that, the boss?” Lewandowski is quoted as saying in Bild. “I don’t think this is a definitive decision. I think that will change.”

It now appears clearer than ever that the prolific frontman sees his future at Bayern. Yet that hasn’t stopped reports in England this morning suggesting he may still arrive at Old Trafford.

It is said that David Moyes is increasingly confident of signing both Lewandowski and Cesc Fabregas before United leave for their pre-season tour in mid-July.

Apparently the Polish striker is keen on a move to the Premier League having seen his wish to join the German treble-winners scuppered. And yet the openness with which he is talking about a move to Pep Guardiola’s side suggests he will hold out for as long as possible.

Despite wishing to fight for his place at Barcelona, and the fact that former club Arsenal have first refusal should he move on, the same report claims that United are confident they can persuade the Spaniard that his future lies in Manchester.

Although another report suggests it is actually Fabregas’s teammate Thiago Alcantara who Moyes will move for in the coming weeks – for a reported £15million.

It is believed that United have already pushed ahead with the deal, speaking to the player’s representatives in the knowledge that should his release clause be met it will be Thiago who decides, with the Catalan club obligated to accept the offer.

Although with no quotes to suggest the deals are any more than paper-talk at this stage, it seems the only man speaking is Lewandowski. And he has made it very clear where he wishes to be playing next season…
