Brazilian wonderkid will be keen for 'idol' Wayne Rooney to stay at Manchester United

Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney's future is uncertain, but one exciting teenager will be desperate he stays a Red Devil.

Jose Mourinho has been turning the screw on Wayne Rooney, urging him to 'go where he is happy', an early mind game looking at destabilising United and their summer plans.

The Rooney situation has been allowed to drag on unresolved for more than a month now, with the midfielder and new manager David Moyes yet to publicly get on the same page.

The forward saw a brief moment of happiness when he was away with England earlier this month, getting on the scoresheet in their 2-2 draw at the Maracana.

The trip to Brazil was an opportunity for one of his biggest fans to get to watch him in action on home soil for the first ever time.

Teenager Bruno Gomes plays for Desportivo Brasil, a feeder club for United, who at just 17-years-old hit the headlines when he netted an incredible seven times in one game earlier this season.

It has even been suggested that he could be invited over to join United on their pre-season tour, and has already come over to Old Trafford to meet with Sir Alex Ferguson prior to the manager's retirement, and also met Wayne Rooney - with pictures of the two together published after the visit.

Rooney clearly made a big impression on the young protege, who is planned to sign terms with United in 2014 when he turns 18. Brazilian regulations will not allow him to officially do so earlier.

Gomes is active on Twitter, and regularly retweets messages from fans asking him 'When do you join United?'/

Ahead of England's trip to Brazil he posted the following message:

And clearly he was thrilled when Rooney got on the scoresheet to net the goal which gave England a 2-1 lead, before the visitors were pegged back for the game to finish in a draw.

Gomes' dream is clearly to make it at United, and train and play alongside the player he so highly regards, Wayne Rooney.

So there will be nobody more disappointed if David Moyes does decide to sell the Englishman this summer.

Make a prediction - Will Rooney be a United player when the season begins?
