Liverpool Managing Director Ian Ayre has suggested Liverpool want to become the new financial super power in English and European football. Ayre has confirmed plans to redevelop Anfield remain on track while some focus goes towards increasing the club’s support base and subsequently commercial deals.

Liverpool’s £3 million bid for Sporting Lisbon defender Thiago Ilori has been rejected. It means Liverpool will either have to up their cash offer or include a player in the deal if they want to force through a move for the talented 20-year-old centre back.

Ajax defender Toby Alderweireld has left the door open on his future. The last time his name was doing the round he was suggesting he’d stay at Ajax but he’s admitted it ‘strokes his ego’ to have Liverpool as one of the clubs interested in signing him on a long term deal.

Celta Vigo striker Iago Aspas is reportedly keen to complete his move to Liverpool. Reports have started surfacing which suggest the club have tied him down on a four-year deal but nothing has been announced officially, which means the finer details may still be going through the processor.

Liverpool youngster Raheem Sterling is talking up the club’s chances of finishing in the top four next season. Sterling says the focus is on getting a good start and not repeating the poor performances which held Liverpool back at the start of the 2012/2013 campaign.

The Daily Express has reported that Liverpool are going after 25-year-old Croatian midfielder Ivan Rakitic. The midfielder currently plays in La Liga with Sevilla and Liverpool have been suggested as a possible destination for him ever since the end of the Spanish season.

Napoli striker and Chelsea transfer target Edinson Cavani has leapt to the defence of national teammate Luis Suarez. Cavani says Suarez cannot be judged for emotional split-second decisions he makes on the field of play and says Suarez is the only person who knows for sure where he’ll be playing next summer.

Liverpool goalkeeper target Simon Mignolet says he will honour the final year of his contract with Sunderland. The Belgian has been tipped to make a move to Anfield and he could still be transferred this summer if Sunderland don’t want to see him leave next summer for nothing.

Former Kop favourite Robbie Fowler has urged the club to keep Luis Suarez this summer. Fowler has suggested Liverpool just have to accept that Suarez will create problems away from the field but he’s far too important to the club’s chances of success for them to let him leave.
