After going off injured in his final game of the season for Montenegro with a muscle strain, Stevan Jovetic gave an interview regarding his future.
A target for Arsenal, Chelsea, and Juventus, the forward outlined his intentions, succinctly stating to La Gazzetta dello Sport:
"I feel that I gave my all to Fiorentina, so I have nothing more to give here."
He went onto discuss his various 'proposals' - mentioning being 'flattered' by interest from Juventus and interest from abroad, being Premier League and La Liga clubs. You can read key excerpts of his interview here.
Now the latest twist in the saga, and it concerns his club - who were absolutely furious with his comments.
Fiorentina co-owner Andrea Della Valle was described as going on a verbal 'rampage' after hearing the contents of the interview, summarised above, and has stated he intends to fine the player.
Here is what he had to say: "The interview has not been authorized, then Jovetic will be fined."
"The demand is and remains 30 million - they know Della Valle - and we do the deal, not the player or his agent."
He felt it was a deliberate effort from the press to help steer Jovetic away from the club and towards Juventus, and help undermine the negotiations by getting him to admit to leave.
Della Valle also is very angry with Jovetic himself, and is determined to get €30 million Euros and not a penny less for the attacker.
Jovetic said in his interview that he wants to leave with a positive image in Florence, but the actions of the club in making him the bad guy and preparing to fine him is suddenly making that very difficult.
What effect do you see this development having?
