Arsenal weekend round-up: Including Bundesliga raid, Bendtner and Grenier

Nicklas Bendtner Arsenal

All the news and gossip from the past 48 hours at The Emirates.

Arsenal are being linked with a Bundesliga raid today. Reports claim that Arsene Wenger is ready to spend the majority of his reported £70 million transfer kitty on two Bundesliga stars and long-term target Gonzalo Higuain. It is reported the Bundesliga players in question are Ilkay Gundogan of Borussia Dortmund and Lars Bender of Bayer Leverkusen.

Nicklas Bendtner has confirmed he will be leaving Arsenal this summer. The 25-year-old spent this season out on loan at Juventus but barely featured due to poor form, fitness worries and injury. The Danish international says he is currently in touch with five or six clubs over a permanent transfer.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is aiming for a bigger year at the club next season. The 19-year-old was mainly used as a substitute last campaign but is hoping he can use the season as a learning curve. He recently bagged an incredible goal for England in an international friendly against Brazil.

Apparent transfer target Stevan Jovetic has confirmed his desire to leave current club Fiorentina this summer. Speaking to Italian media he said he had given everything he could to the club and could not give any more. He did also mention Juventus as having already made contact with him about a move and how he was unsure over the price-tag with which he has been labelled.

Arsenal forward Theo Walcott is being pursued by Italian outfit Napoli according to reports on the continent. The claim is Rafa Benitez has been impressed with the forward when he has seen him play in the Premier League and would like to bring him to Italy as one of his marquee signings. However Walcott only recently signed a contract extension at Arsenal so is unlikely to leave.

Johan Djourou could yet leave the club this summer. It is now reported that Bundesliga outfit Hannover 96 are interested in extending his loan spell into the new season. The club cannot afford to pay the asking price quoted for his services but are still keen on keeping hold of him; and the Swiss international will report to pre-season training in Germany rather than England.

Finally and Arsenal target Clement Grenier has made it clear this weekend that he has not yet decided his future. The Lyon player has been strongly linked with The Gunners in recent weeks but says no decision on his future will occur until after international duty ends.
