Tottenham Hotspur latest: Including Gallas and Gomez

The latest news stories and transfer rumours to come out of White Hart Lane.

Tottenham midfielder Lewis Holtby starred in Germany’s Under-21 European Championship opener against the Netherlands. Holtby captained his country and scored a superb free kick which drew the scores level at the time before a late Dutch winner.

Tottenham have been linked with a surprise swoop for Bayern Munich's Mario Gomez. The German striker who scored 41 goals in 2011/12 is available for transfer and the Metro claim he could be available for as little as £7 million.

Franco Baldini’s imminent appointment s technical director at Tottenham could give the club access to some of Roma’s best young players. Erik Lamela, Miralem Pjanic and Pablo Osvaldo have all been suggested as possible signings for the White Hart Lane side.

Brazilian striker Hulk has hinted he would be interested in a move to the Premier League. Spurs are one of the clubs who have been tracking the Zenit St Petersburg forward who is thought to be keen on a move away from Russia due to problems with his club and Russian fans.

Tottenham have begun their summer clearout with the high profile departures of David Bentley and William Gallas. Bentley hasn’t played a game for the first team in over two years while Gallas has been released following a string of injuries which kept him out of the side last season.

Tottenham have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Roberto Soldado after the striker said he wanted to stay at Valencia. There had been strong rumours Spurs were about to buy Soldado as Valencia look to ease their financial problems after failing to qualify for next season’s Champions League.

Tottenham Hotspur are in the hunt to sign FC Twente winger Nacer Chadli. Spurs’ competition is coming from Liverpool with both clubs battling for the chance to add the highly talented wide man to their squads before the start of the transfer window next month.

Spurs goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has said he thinks he’ll be an even better player next season. The Frenchman worked his way into the side last season, eventually becoming the club’s number one and he says the experience he’s gained from English football so far will make him a better player.

Andros Townsend has revealed boredom led to him laying bets which broke FA regulations over betting integrity. Townsend has since been banned and was sent home from the Under-21 European Championship where he was part of the England squad.
