Chelsea latest: Including De Rossi and Hulk

De Rossi Tackle On Rooney - England v Italy Euro 2012

A round-up of news and views relating to Chelsea over the past 24 hours.

Chelsea have decided to let five high profile players leave the club, with Florent Malouda, Paulo Ferreira, Yossi Benayoun, Hilario and Ross Turnbull all being released at the end of the month. With both of Chelsea’s reserve keepers set to leave, there will inevitably be speculation over whether that means Thibaut Courtois will return to Stamford Bridge as back-up for Petr Cech.

Mourinho might well check on the progress of Courtois, and also Kevin De Bruyne, as Belgium take on Serbia tonight in a World Cup 2014 qualifier in Brussels. Eden Hazard, Romelu Lukaku and Branislav Ivanovic might all also take part in the match, giving Mourinho plenty to consider.

Eden Hazard has said that he hopes talented youngsters like Romelu Lukaku are given a chance to impress in the first team at Chelsea so they can learn from the senior players.

“We have some very good young players in Nathan Ake, (Josh) McEachran and (Romelu) Lukaku, and I hope they can be involved with the other ones who are young but now also have experience, people like Oscar and Juan Mata, who have learned from the older players like John Terry, Frank Lampard and Petr Cech,” he said.

Chelsea continue to be linked with huge transfer bids for Edinson Cavani and Hulk, with some reports in Italy suggesting that a deal might have been struck for the striker after Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis said he would speak to the Blues about the Uruguayan.

Meanwhile Hulk himself has indicated that there is in interest from Chelsea, but that he is totally focussed on his role in Brazil’s squad for the Confederations Cup this month. The 26-year-old is reportedly unhappy at Zenit St Petersburg after moving to Russia from Porto last summer.

Italy coach Cesar Prandelli has said that leaving Roma might be a good move for reported Chelsea target Daniele De Rossi. The 29-year-old has spent his while career at the Italian club, but could be tempted by a move this summer after a difficult season where Roma finished outside the European places in Serie A.

On HITC today we look at why Chelsea are the likeliest side to sign Vitesse Arnhem striker Wiflried Bony, and speculate about five Bayern Munich players the Blues could target this summer. We also look at the reports suggesting David Luiz could be going to Barcelona.
