Carles Puyol has stated his belief that David Villa is leaving the Nou Camp this summer.
The chances are you haven’t heard of Brazilian sports journalist Fabio Sormani; and why would you have if you are reading this in England. What possible news could he break that would be of interest to us?
Well it turns out he definitely had a conversation that should be noted by the likes of Arsenal and Tottenham fans; especially those who would enjoy seeing David Villa plying his trade for their club next season.
Villa has long been linked with an exit from Barcelona this summer and after the arrival of Neymar from Santos that now seems to be inevitable.
And if we were in any doubt than Barcelona’s captain Carles Puyol has unwittingly revealed what most of us have all assumed.
Speaking to Sormani in New York it is alleged that the conversation turned, naturally when speaking to a Brazilian journo, to the subject of Neymar.
After originally enquiring as to where on the pitch Neymar would likely feature for the club one thing led to another, and well you can see for yourself as this is the reported transcript from Sormani's blog:
Puyol:“On the left wing, as he played at Santos,”
Sormani:“And who would play on the right?”
Puyol: “Pedro or Sanchez.”
Sormani: “And Villa, is he leaving?”
Puyol: “Yeah, but I do not know where he is going.”
And in case you do not think the two even met Sormani, a reporter with radio station Jovem Pan FM, posted this picture on his Twitter; in a bid to alleviate scepticism no doubt:
So it looks like he is on his way … the only question left to answer is the one Puyol himself could not confirm; where?
