Tottenham midfielder Lewis Holtby scored a superb goal for the his country at the European under-21 Championships.
Germany and Holland put on the best game of the European under-21 tournament so far this evening, playing out a thrilling encounter.
Holland raced into a 2-0 lead through goals from AZ's Adam Maher, linked with Tottenham and Manchester City, and PSV's Georginio Wijnaldum.
After a no doubt half-time rollicking, Germany fought back - inspired by Lewis Holtby.
The Tottenham ace won a penalty midway through the second half, which teammate Sebastian Rudy of Hoffenheim converted.
The game's highlight was Holtby's superb equaliser which arrived in the 81st minute. He curled the ball past the goalkeeper after picking up the ball on the edge of the area, and must have thought he had at least secured his side a point.
It was not to be, for midfielder Leroy Fer, who almost signed for Everton, was introduced from the bench and stepped forward to scramble home an 89th minute winner from close range.
