Manchester City’s Carlos Tevez 'agrees terms' with Juventus

Welcome To Manchester - Carlos Tevez

Reports this evening suggest Carlos Tevez is on his way to Italy.

Reports this evening from Italy suggest that Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez has agreed personal terms with Serie A champions Juventus.

The story – from Italian website Sport Mediaset – claims the 29-year-old has agreed to lower his wage demands in order for a deal to go through once the transfer window opens.

Tevez has been strongly linked with a move away from the Etihad, with his contract expiring in 2014 and with rumoured interest from big-spending French side Monaco. But following the arrivals of Radamel Falcao and James Rodriguez, it seems Claudio Ranieri’s side are now focusing their attention on defensive reinforcements.

It was believed that Tevez’s countryman Gonzalo Higuain was the favourite to make the switch to Turin, following his admittance that he will be leaving Real Madrid this summer. But it now seems the City striker may beat him to it.

However, reports from today’s Mirror suggest Juventus haven’t given up on Higuain, introducing the tantalising possibility of the two Argentinians playing together for the Bianconeri next year.

The Italian report goes on to say that Juventus’s director Beppe Marotta will now negotiate with City over the transfer fee for a player who seemed destined for the Etihad exit long ago, only for both parties to perform an unexpected U-turn.

With the likely arrival of Fernandinho hot on the heels of the signing of Jesus Navas, it seems City fans may be bidding farewell to a player in the coming days, having got used to greeting new arrivals.

Although with Edin Dzeko also likely to leave the Blues in the coming months, it does raise the question as to who will be competing with Sergio Aguero for a starting spot next season. It is unlikely City will sanction the Tevez move without a replacement at least in the pipeline.

Can you see Tevez playing for Juventus next season?  And who would you like to replace him?
