Real Madrid legend trying to ruin Arsenal chase for second team superstar

Real Madrid legend Zinedine Zidane has urged the club’s president Florentino Perez to offer Arsenal target Jese Rodriguez a long term contract.

The striker, who can also play as a winger, has been the subject of scouting from the North London club and has prolific record in Spain’s second division could tempt Arsenal into making a big bid.

Zidane’s worries seem to be based on plenty of similar examples in the recent past where English clubs have poached the best players from big Spanish sides and secured them at young ages, paying them bigger deals.

“Jese can not move from here. We cannot lose him. He has to be in the first team with a renewed contract,” Zidane told El Confidential.

Rodriguez has a stunning record for the Real Madrid B team, he scored 22 goals and created 12 goals from 38 appearances last season and has just one year remaining on his current contract.

His current contract situation means Arsenal could dangle a carrot and make a good offer but Perez has made every indication that Zidane is going to play more of a prominent role at Real Madrid in the very near future.

Why he would take that decision to bring him back into the infrastructure of the club before ignoring his advice doesn’t make sense.

Unfortunately for Arsenal, Zidane is one of the greatest players to have ever graced the game, let along Real Madrid, which means his comments carry extra weight over other former players for the side.

Speed is the key and if Arsenal and Arsene Wenger are seriously interested in him then they need to get an offer in sooner rather than later.

The longer the club wait to lodge an official bid, the higher the chance they will miss out on him altogether.

Rodriguez seems to have the sort of exciting potential and talent where if he signs another deal with Real Madrid, it could be one which gets extended again in the future, which takes him into the peak of his career.

Rodriguez has also been very explosive in terms of his international career bagging five goals at the Under-19 European Championship last year.

Arsenal have a very sound youth system and there are few better coaches in England when it comes to signing players like this and turning them into much more complete players.

Thierry Henry, Cesc Fabregas and Robin van Persie have all recently left the club and Rodriguez would represent the chance for the club to get another superstar in the side and leading the attack.

Is Rodriguez worth a bid? Could he develop at Arsenal?
