The FA have punished Andros Townsend after an investigation into his betting activities which breached his code of conduct as a player. Townsend was already forced to withdraw from England's under-21 squad, and he has been handed an official one-month ban from football.
A further three-months has been added on as a suspended punishment, which can be invoked at any time by the FA between now and 2016 if Townsend repeats his offences. He has also been fined £18,000.
The winger, who impressed on loan at QPR said in a statement he would not be appealing the decision and does not want it to 'tarnish' his career. He will be available to start pre-season with Spurs in July.
Reports in Sweden have claimed Tottenham are tracking Fulham midfielder Alex Kacaniklic. The winger scored the winner for his country in a friendly at the weekend, and impressed last season for the club. An injury saw him lose his place and spend time on loan in the Championship before being recalled.
Tottenham right-back Adam Smith is hoping to make the most of his time to shine in the upcoming European under-21 Championships, which kick-off tomorrrow with England facing Italy in the evening game. Smith impressed on loan at Millwall and will follow in the footsteps of Kyle Walker who impressed at the 2011 Championships. He has given an interview to Tottenham's website ahead of the big kick-off.
Spurs have reportedly snubbed a meeting with Zinedine Zidane, technical director at Real Madrid, over the transfer of Gareth Bale. The Star insist this is because Daniel Levy will only deal directly with president Florentino Perez. Meanwhile The Metro speculate that Madrid would be willing to pay £100 million for the Welshman.
