If any Americans were tuning into their national soccer team for the first time tonight, they may just have been converted to the sport.
USA were hosting Germany in an international friendly, with boss Jurgen Klinsmann enjoying split loyalties.
They did not let the opportunity to cause a major shock slip by against a German side missing several major stars due to Bayern Munich's partaking in the German Cup Final 24 hours earlier.
At half-time they were 2-0 up, through goals from Jozy Altidore and and an own goal diverted in by goalkeeper Marc Andre Ter-Stegen.
Hamburg's Heik Westermann pulled one back after the break for the Germans, before Tottenham forward Clint Dempsey got in on the act, scoring twice to put the Americans into an insurmountable lead.
His first goal was a typically opportunistic strike, arriving late into the box and finishing decisively...
But his second goal was really something special, and arguably better than any of the goals he scored for Tottenham over the past season.
The game ended 4-3 and Max Kruse and Julian Draxler made it more respectable from Germany's point of view, but USA held on for a memorable victory.
Tottenham fans should the club hold onto Dempsey this summer?
