Speculation about Tottenham submitting a £25 million bid for Porto striker Jackson Martinez has increased over the past 24 hours. The freescoring Colombian was the topic of an article in Portuguese newspaper Record, who took their story from the Guardian. Andre Villas-Boas has also been linked with signing winger Christian Atsu from his former club.

The Mirror has suggested Spurs are also focusing on Benfica forward Rodrigo, ready to bid £10 million for his services. Rodrigo had a brief loan spell with Bolton three seasons ago.

However we have suggested that the Benfica forward Spurs should consider is Oscar Cardozo, with the 31-goal Paraguayan reportedly put up for sale by the club after falling out with the coach.
