Former Newcastle striker scores then is sent off in same MLS game

Former Newcastle United and Birmingham forward Obafemi Martins had quite an interesting weekend in Major League Soccer.

28-year-old, yes 28, Obafemi Martins controversially forced through a move from Levante in La Liga to MLS side Seattle Sounders.

After bagging nine goals for Levante, including two in the Europa League, he has continued his goalscoring form across the Atlantic.

Martins now has four goals in seven games for the Sounders, scoring the opener in the first half against Chivas USA in a 2-0 win.

But he did not complete the match, harshly sent off with 20 minutes to go. The referee judged that he kicked his opponent in the head as they got up from a challenge, but the look of amazement on Martins' face when the card was brandished said it all.

Likewise you can watch the innocent coming together below.
