Rafa Benitez is busy adjusting to life at Napoli, where he will get a crack at replicating his 2005 Champions League success next season.
He has much to prove in Italy after his failed spell with Inter in 2010, which lasted just a matter of months.
One player at Napoli very happy to see the former Liverpool and interim Chelsea manager in the hotseat at the club is Gokhan Inler.
The Swiss midfielder has revealed Benitez made his admiration of the central midfielder known to him during his time at the Reds.
"Benitez wanted me already at Liverpool", he told Swiss newspaper Blick.
This has given Inler confidence that he will be a key part of the new manager's plans, amid speculation he may have followed former manager Walter Mazzari out of the club this summer.
"There is a lot written, but I'm not thinking about a transfer and (plan) to continue the contract in Naples."
During Benitez' Liverpool tenure, Inler was playing at Udinese, and went onto sign for Napoli for £15 million in 2011.
The 28-year-old is currently on international duty with Switzerland and hopes to feature in their upcoming match against Cyprus.
He scored six times in Serie A last season, and in 2011/12 netted at Stamford Bridge in the Champions League defeat to Chelsea.
It would appear there is little chance of Inler ending up at Liverpool now - and he isn't necessarily the type of player, in terms of price or age that Brendan Rodgers would spend his money on.
How much interest there really was from Benitez he has not elaborated on, but he would have certainly been a better bet than the disastrous pursuit of Gareth Barry.
Would Inler have been a good signing for Liverpool under Benitez?
