Montenegrin forward Stevan Jovetic has recently been the subject of much transfer speculation. Throughout the month of May he was continually linked with Arsenal and Juventus in particular.
In fact on more than one occasion he was reportedly signed sealed and delivered for one club or another.
Then, at the tail-end of the month, Chelsea’s apparent interest crept up on us.
With Giuseppe Rossi already bound to La Viola for next season Fiorentina feel the time is right to cash in on their 22-year-old talent.
And despite the apparent interest of Arsenal waning it is still good to keep tabs on his transfer activity; and today there have been some interesting developments.
First of all a report from Sky Sport Italia informs us that Fiorentina officials met with the players agent Fali Ramadani to discuss his future amid the interest.
And they report that it was made clear to Ramadani that Fiorentina were willing to sell; but only at the agreed asking price of €30million.
Essentially they wanted to make sure that no more bids involving player exchanges landed at their door.
It was previously reported that Juventus were ready to do business in this manner with Luca Marrone or Fabio Quagliarella acting as bait; although that was denied by the Serie A champions.
The good news for Chelsea fans is that price-tag is well out of Juventus’ spending budget for next year while Arsene Wenger is unlikely to get the go-ahead to invest such a sum on one player.
But another interesting development could see them all blown out of the water as Inter Milan are set to join the race.
While the club does not currently have the resources to make such a bid the imminent takeover of the Nerazzuri by Indonesian businessman Erick Thohir could make them genuine players in the transfer market once again.
So the Jovetic saga rolls into a new month; and we are still none the wiser to where he will be playing his football next season.
