The idea of Luis Suarez leaving Liverpool this summer appears to get more and more real with every passing day; or should that be Real - as the Madridista’s move in for the kill for the Uruguayan striker.
While his agent may have commented yesterday on his clients lack of desire to leave the club Suarez has been singing from an entirely different hymnbook - with his strained relationship with the British press seemingly forcing him out of Anfield and the Premier League.
This on one hand would be a shame as we would be losing a very talented player but on the other hand; he did BITE someone so he can’t really complain about the press getting on his case.
In a press conference in his homeland ahead of La Celeste's upcoming international friendly with France he had this to say about his future at Anfield:
"It's a good moment for a change of environment because of all I've been through. I do not know when I'm going and I do not know if I'm staying. I have only words of thanks to the club, the fans of Liverpool. But the treatment I received from the rest of England in recent weeks has been tough. It [Liverpool] is a spectacular club, but they are aware of the way that the press treats me."
And according to reports in Spain it would appear that Liverpool are already readying a potential replacement; a replacement which would take away a Clasico rival of Suarez should he move to Real Madrid.
The record international goal-scorer for Spain is expected to be officially put up for sale from June 30th and the Spanish media seem to believe the Premier League is his only viable destination.
‘Although Tottenham have quite advanced negotiations, Liverpool can bid to get done with the services of Spanish international striker. It appears that the Spaniard would be seen as a replacement for Luis Suarez by Brendan Rodgers, who could leave the Reds towards [Real] Madrid.’
With an apparent starting price of €14 million to work down from he may be the obvious replacement for Liverpool’s star man - should Real Madrid come calling.
Do you think Villa would be the right man to replace Suarez?
