Chelsea latest: Including Schurrle and Hulk

A round-up of news and views relating to Chelsea over the past 24 hours.

Chelsea are set to finally seal the capture of 22-year-old Bayer Leverkusen forward Andre Shurrle after the German club’s general manager announced that a deal involved Kevin De Bruyne had been struck.

“They are going to buy Andre Schurrle for a specific fee and, in return, they will loan De Bruyne to us for a year for free,” said Wolfgang Holzhauser.

Romelu Lukaku has said that although he hopes to be playing at Chelsea next season, nothing has yet been decided, and that he needs to be playing regular football. Lukaku will likely discuss a possible loan move with Chelsea’s new manager, which is widely expected to be Jose Mourinho.

Frank Lampard has said he is keen to reach 100 caps for England, after seeing Ashley Cole and Steven Gerrard both reach the figure in the past year. Lampard, who scored the equaliser against Republic of Ireland last night, currently has 96 caps for his country.

Barcelona’s vice-president, Carles Vilarrubi has claimed that Jose Mourinho will be a disaster in his second spell at Stamford Bridge, saying that everyone in Spanish football is happy that the Portuguese manager is leaving after his behaviour at Real Madrid.

Teodoro Fonseca, the agent of Brazilian forward Hulk, has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea have registered an interest in signing the player, who moved to Zenit St Petersburg last year in a £52million deal. Hulk is reportedly unhappy in Russia, and considering his options, although a high transfer fee might put off any sides this summer.

Claudio Marchisio is also rumoured to be a target for Chelsea, with reports in Portugal suggesting Mourinho is keen on the Juventus midfielder. Manchester United have also been linked with a move for Marchisio this summer.

In other transfer news there has been speculation that Chelsea are prepared to offer Fernando Torres as part of a deal for Napoli striker Edinson Cavani. With Rafa Benitez taking over at the Serie A club, he might consider Torres as a good option if Cavani is set to leave.

On HITC today we suggest Liverpool should look at signing Marko Marin from Chelsea, and ask if Chelsea might renew their interest in wonderkid Lucas Ocampos after Monaco’s recent spending spree.
