Arsenal latest: Including Wanyama and Sanogo

All the latest news and gossip from the past 24 hours at The Emirates.

Arsenal’s apparent goalkeeper target Julio Cesar has been linked with a return to Italy recently but it now seems as though he is in fact hoping to remain in England. The 33-year-old Brazilian international says no decision will be made until after the Confederations Cup in his homeland. He did not name any of the potential interested parties out of respect for current club QPR.

Arsenal legend Perry Groves has urged Arsene Wenger to invest in Celtic enforcer Victor Wanyama. The Kenyan has been heavily linked with The Gunners over the last few months. He feels the young and bullish player is perfect for the club and would also be cost effective.

Arsenal’s goalkeeper target Victor Valdes will address the media tomorrow morning; where he is expected to announce his exit from Barcelona. He made the announcement on his official Facebook and Twitter accounts. Monaco are also keen.

Lukas Podolski bagged a goal against Ecuador last night; after just six seconds. The German international was recently criticised by the national team technical advisor Oliver Bierhoff for not meriting his place in the team but he bagged another goal late on to truly answer his critics.

Bacary Sagna looked like he was having fun whilst learning to play the traditional Indonesian ensemble instrument the gamelan. Either he was concentrating very hard or found the whole exercise very tedious indeed.

The Daily Mail has come up with an intriguing stat as Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has now been in charge at the club longer then all the other managers in the Premier League combined. Wenger has been in charge in North London for 6,079 days with the combined total of the other managers coming to just 5,909.

Arsenal are reportedly unlikely to let new signing Yaya Sanogo leave the club this summer on a loan deal back to current club AJ Auxerre. It has previously been mooted that the 20-year-old striker, who is on the verge of finalising a Bosman transfer from the Ligue 2 club, could return immediately. But the Auxerre chairman believes that Arsene Wenger will want to keep him.

Manchester City midfielder Abdisalam Ibrahim is ‘flattered’ to be linked with Arsenal as they were his favourite team whilst growing up. Currently on loan at Norwegian outfit Stromsgodset he has been earning rave reviews for his performances and will be scouted at the upcoming under-21 championships.
