Iago Aspas Celta Vigo

Liverpool have been strongly linked with closing a deal for Iago Aspas.

While reports claiming Liverpool have completed a deal for Iago Aspas are by far premature, it has been reported that the Reds have agreed a fee with Celta Vigo.

Vigo have one more match to play before the season ends, and only after that will he discuss personal terms and undergo a medical, report ESPN.

So what do fans of the club need to know about the highly rated star, also pursued by Manchester City, Chelsea, and Swansea?

Here are five facts about Aspas...

1) Aspas is a 25-year-old striker who has netted 12 La Liga goals for Celta Vigo this season, providing six assists.

2) In 2011/12 he bagged 25 goals as he helped Celta win promotion from Spain's second tier.

3) His older brother Jonathan Aspas is also a professional footballer, playing as a right-back for Cypriot side Alki Larnaca.

4) Aspas made his debut for Celta in 2007 aged just 17, coming on as a substitute for former Blackburn and West Ham striker Benni McCarthy.

5) Aspas has not been capped at any level for Spain, unlike his brother who represented his country from under-16s through to under-20s.
