All the latest news, views and transfer rumours from the Etihad…
City may have thought their Champions League group was tough last time, but it doesn’t look like getting any easier after The Times reported that the Blues could be among the third seeds in next season’s competition.
This comes after their poor European record in recent times, culminating in their fourth-place finish in this year’s group stage.
But having been drawn against Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund and Ajax this time round, fans may believe the seeding system makes little difference in a competition of such high quality.
In what seems to now be the daily Isco update, the Malaga midfielder has suggested he may follow Manuel Pellegrini to the Etihad…should the Chilean be appointed.
“He’s been my footballing father and I know that he likes me,” Isco said. “Of course I’d like to continue with him.”
Although the 21-year-old also suggested that regular first-team football would play a big part in his decision.
Having also been linked with a move to the Bernabeu, he added, “I’m not closing my door to anyone but my priority is to play and I don’t want to be on the bench. We’ll see what happens in the summer.”
One player who definitely won’t be at City next season is Kolo Toure, who is on the verge of moving to Liverpool on a free transfer.
And finally, a group of City supporters have paid for a £7,000 advert in an Italian newspaper, thanking former manager Roberto Mancini for his time at the club.
The advert, in Gazzetta Dello Sport, contained the headline, ‘Once a blue, always a blue,’ and comes after Mancini ran a similar piece in the Manchester Evening News thanking City fans for their support.
