News, views and rumours relating to Manchester United in the past 24 hours.
New Manchester United manager David Moyes has undertake a ‘cull’ of Sir Alex Ferguson’s backroom staff following his appointment.
Former United defender Phil Neville is expected to lead the Everton ‘exodus’ as Moyes brings in his preferred personnel to Old Trafford.
Everton backroom staff Steve Round, Chris Woods and Robbie Cook are expected to follow.
Meanwhile, Crystal Palace boss Ian Holloway is hoping Wilfried Zaha can remain on loan at Selhurst Park following Palace’s promotion to the Premier League, although the Eagles boss admitted keeping hold of the youngster would be unlikely.
“I think he'd be silly to give me him back,” Holloway said of Moyes.
“Now we're up it might be realistic, but who knows? He will know the task he's got. Mine will be staying up, his will be winning every week. Good luck to him and good luck to us.”
However, Palace chairman Steve Parish insists the club have no intention of trying to keep Zaha at the club following their promotion from the Championship.
"Wilfried deserves his chance to go to Manchester United with a view to making it there," Parish told BBC Radio 4.
"I think he is good enough and will figure in their first team."
Meanwhile, Phil Jagielka has ‘ruled out’ a move to Old Trafford, dismissing claims he could follow David Moyes from Everton this summer.
"I definitely see my future at Everton,” he told the Daily Mail.
"I was made captain for next season when David Moyes was in charge. We will have to wait and see what happens with the new manager, but hopefully he will keep me in that role, because it is something that I am looking forward to doing.”
In transfer news, United target Robert Lewandowski will sign for Bayern Munich this summer according to his agent Cezary Kucharski who revealed:
“Yes, Robert will join Bayern this summer. There is no point pretending he will not move to Bayern. Robert wants to leave and that is what will happen. It is a matter of time.”
However Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp has hit out at suggestions, claiming there has been no contact between the two clubs over a deal.
Meanwhile, super rich Ligue 1 side Monaco could swoop for United targets Angel Di Maria and Fabio Coentrao of Real Madrid this summer.
United have been linked with both Real players in recent months but the pair look increasingly likely to move to France with Monaco.
Elsewhere, speculation continues that United will bid for Cesc Fabregas, Barcelona star and former Arsenal captain, this summer.
In other news, Tom Cleverley has been ruled out of England’s upcoming friendlies with Ireland and Brazil and has withdrawn from Roy Hodgson’s squad due to a calf injury.
However, United stars Phil Jones, Michael Carrick, Wayne Rooney and Danny Welbeck are all expected to participate on Wednesday for England.
England boss Roy Hodgson expects Wilfried Zaha to ‘shine’.
“I like Wilfried Zaha,” Hodgson told The FA's official website.
“He is a good player. I went to Palace not so long back to have a look at him and of course he now has a massive move to Manchester United. It seems to me he is on the threshold of something big.”
“He will be given the opportunity. When a club like Manchester United is prepared to pay a lot of money for a player, because they will help them to win things, it is a tremendous boost to both confidence and ego,” he added.
