Liverpool latest: Including Carroll and Toure

All of the latest news and information relating to Liverpool.

Liverpool have clinched the signature of Kolo Toure on a free transfer from Manchester City. The 32-year-old will join the club officially on July 1.

Liverpool striker Andy Carroll is being tipped to reject a move to West Ham United. The forward has been on loan with the Hammers but is thought to be less keen on a permanent switch as he wants to prove that he can play a part for Brendan Rodgers at Anfield.

Liverpool could quickly find themselves financially outgunned in the race to sign Moussa Sow from Fenerbahce. The striker is thought to be a target for Paris Saint-Germain, a side with much greater financial resources than Liverpool which would effectively leave them with no chance of signing him.

Liverpool face competition from Monaco to sign Hatem Ben Arfa from Newcastle United. The £10 million rated midfielder is just affordable to the club but Monaco seem intent on spending their way to the top after promotion back into the top flight of French football.

Swansea City boss Michael Laudrup has hinted that Ashley Williams is set to leave the club. Liverpool could still have a chance of signing him if Brendan Rodgers can convince the board to come up with the cash for a player heading into his 30s in the near future.

Brendan Rodgers says he expects Raheem Sterling to be fresh and ready for next season. Sterling was recently left out of the England Under-21 squad due to a thigh injury and Rodgers says it’s important he’s given the proper time to rest over the summer.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has revealed he thinks the club’s youngsters can emulate Juan Mata this summer. Liverpool have four players in the England Under-21 squad for the European Championship and Rodgers believes they can follow Mata’s example and help their country win the tournament.

There are still rumours that Martin Skrtel will turn his back on Liverpool and move back to Zenit St Petersburg. The Slovakian defender fell out with manager Brendan Rodgers after he accused him of him of evading the truth after dropping him from the first team last season.

Liverpool right back Glen Johnson says he is relishing the up coming England friendly matches against the Republic of Ireland and Brazil. Johnson is expected to feature in both and says he’s expecting a hostile atmosphere as England take on the Irish at Wembley tomorrow night.

Napoli have appointed former Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez as their next boss. Benitez said last season that he would go back to coach at Anfield again at a later point in his career, as his family still live in the Merseyside area. He has just left his interim role with Chelsea.
