Frank Lampard has just earned himself a new Chelsea deal, with some saying he’s producing the best form of his career at the moment.
If Roy Hodgson was debating whether to start him against Ireland in the friendly this week, he’s just had any doubts put to bed by a superb goal from Lampard during an England training session.
We all remember David Beckham’s famous goal from the halfway line for Manchester United against Wimbledon, well this effort is right up there, maybe even better.
I say better because it looks flatter and it seems more spontaneous than Beckham’s effort. Becks had the chance to size things up, take his time and loop the ball in over the goalkeeper’s head.
Lampard is set to start the friendly against Ireland as England’s most important midfielder due to the injuries to Steven Gerrard, recovering from a shoulder problem, and Jack Wilshere, set to undergo another bout of ankle surgery.
Check out Lampard’s spectacular effort;
What do you think? Better than Beckham’s goal?
