Everton had a great campaign in David Moyes’ final season as boss at Goodison Park with some stand out performers.
Everton finished sixth in the table, which will be disappointing to some considering it looked as though the club may break into the top four based on their early season form.
However, the fact they finished above Liverpool will be telling in the minds of several fans and that success was enabled by some stand out players.
Baines is not only a solid left back, he’s also one of the most productive players at the club when it comes to assists and creating chances. His delivery in set piece situations is almost perfect and gives Everton a great chance of capitalising on those situations in matches when they are under a lot of pressure.
The big Belgian set the tone for the season, on both a team and personal level, with a goal against Manchester United which won the game on the first day of the season. He scored 11 crucial goals and provided six assists from 31 Premier League appearances to become one of the most effective midfielders of the season.
Osman is very much an underrated hero and player for Everton. He’s not an egotistical player and just goes about his business, tying the midfield together and making sure everyone is doing their specific job. He managed to stay injury free over the course of the season and scored five goals, which is high for a defensive player.
Arguably the most improved player for Everton over the course of the season. Moyes has developed the attacking side of his game well and he’s retained his core defensive qualities. He started 24 matches for the club and came up with five assists which proves he’s becoming more effective in the opponent’s final third as well as his own.
There has always been a bit of a question mark over whether Anichebe could step up and fulfil on the potential which every Everton fans knows has always been there. Anichebe bagged six Premier League goals and six assists from 19 starts and seven sub appearances to prove he’s more than just an impact player now.
Who else do you think had a great season for Everton?
