Tottenham Hotspur weekend round-up: Including Vucinic and £60m Bale

News and gossip from the past 48 hours at White Hart Lane.

Real Madrid are reportedly readying to test Spurs’ resolve over their star player Gareth Bale. It is being reported that Los Merengues are ready to offer £60 million for the Welsh PFA Player and Young Player of the Year.

It comes just a day after Zinedine Zidane sang the praises of the player and suggested he was more than good enough to play at the Bernabeu.

Assistant manager Steffen Freund is however remaining positive about the situation and is hoping the 23-year-old will stay at White Hart Lane.

Andros Townsend has been charged by the Football Association for alleged betting offences. The 21-year-old, who spent the second half of the season on loan at QPR, has subsequently pulled out of the UEFA Under-21 Championships in Israel.

Tottenham are reportedly after Juventus striker Mirko Vucinic. The Montenegrin forward, who has previously been a subject of Manchester United’s affections, is reportedly available for £16 million as The Old Lady prepare to snap up Gonzalo Higuain from Real Madrid.

Tottenham could miss out on Ghanaian Christian Atsu. The FC Porto winger has been a long term favourite of Andre Villas-Boas but it is now being reported that Liverpool have become the favourites to snap up the wantaway star.

On the site we have taken a look at two La Liga strikers who have both been linked with signing for Tottenham recently. Barcelona and Valencia players David Villa and Roberto Soldado respectively are the two assessed and we ask which one you would prefer to see at the club?

Finally and Spurs have been enjoying their time in The Bahamas. They faced Jamaica in a friendly first; which ended in a drab 0-0 draw and judging by the pictures I am surprised they even turned up with the beautiful beaches on offer instead. AVB even topped up his tan alongside team-mates sych as Jan Vertonghen, Moussa Dembele and Benoit Assou-Ekotto.

The perks of the job hey?

What are your thoughts on everything Spurs this weekend?
