That title triumph was enabled by some superb performances from the United squad from the back to the top of the attack.
There were plenty of players who deserve a mention when it comes to the five best players of the season but unfortunately, I can only pick five.
Robin van Persie
Van Persie scored the goals which turned a lot of games in United’s favour at the start of the season. In total he bagged 26 goals in the Premier League with 15 assists and 35 goals in all competitions for club and country, proving he’s currently the best striker at the club by some distance.
Carrick played in 36 matches and scored just one goal but his influence in midfield has never been greater. He’s not a typical defensive midfielder but he’s the best when it comes to working the space, cutting off angles and trying to intercept passes which makes it hard for the opposition to flow.
Any doubts any fans had over Ferdinand’s ability now he’s well into his 30s can rest those doubts. He only played in 28 matches because of his age and turnaround time but he looked like the best centre back at the club. The back four looks much calmer and composed when he’s in the side.
Arguably the best right back in the Premier League based on how he’s performed over the last year. He may be a small guy but he adds pace and aggression down the right side of United’s team and he compliments the attack well and managed to score three important goals over the campaign from 28 games.
David De Gea
De Gea played in 28 games over the course of the season conceding just 26 goals. He gets on the list for the way he’s reacted to criticism and the way he’s reacted to being dropped at various times during the season. Some of his performances towards the back end of the campaign have proven he’s the number one at Old Trafford.
