Arsene Wenger has confirmed his interest in Lyon midfielder Clement Grenier. Speaking to Telefoot Wenger said of the French under-21 international:
"We are following him. His intelligence of play pleases me. He has interesting qualities. He reminds me of Nasri."
Considering Wenger rarely gives away targets so willingly this deal could be in the pipeline.
This weekend has seen Arsenal linked with signing Wayne Rooney on numerous occasions. The Manchester United striker is reportedly ready to leave the club this summer as he seeks a new challenge.
It is believed Arsenal would be willing to smash their wage structure in order to procure the England international on a £200k-a-week deal with a decent signing on fee.
Arsenal are being linked with Paul Pogba; again. Wenger has tried to snap up the talented Frenchman on two previous occasions; one with Le Havre and again last summer. However he signed for Juventus where he has become an instant hit and French international on his debut season. However he is rumoured to be unsettled at the club and Wenger may revitalise his interest.
It is believed that Arsenal are closing in on the signing of Sunderland goalkeeper Simon Mignolet in a deal worth in excess of £10 million. The Belgian stopper was one of the Premier Leagues top keepers last season is reportedly keen for a big move in order to wrestle the Belgian number one spot from Thibaut Courtois.
Ashley Williams again features as it is believed a deal to sign the Wales captain is getting closer by the day. The Swansea player is no longer being courted by Liverpool making Arsenal the only chasers for his signature. His signing could spell the end of Thomas Vermaelen’s career at the club.
Two teams are reportedly interested in Ivorian forward Gervinho. Lyon are said to want to take the player on loan for the season with a view to a permanent move. Galatasaray and Fenerbahce are also said to be keen on both Gervinho and another Arsenal attacker in Nicklas Bendtner.
Finally and former club hero Freddie Ljungberg has been speaking about The Gunners season. He believes that they should not be celebrating finishing in fourth place. He feels that until the club lift silverware they have nothing to be cheering about.
