Arsenal, City and Chelsea - Buy early to topple the Champions

If Arsenal, Manchester City or Chelsea have serious aspirations to win the Premier League next season, buying early may be key, and same too for Manchester United if they wish to retain.

The dust has settled on an interesting and at times quite compelling Premier League season, except for the final spot which will be decided on Monday at Wembley.

There is a sense of real excitement amongst the top four clubs and their fans, as for the first time in a long time, and apart from Arsene Wenger, three new managers will be at the helm of the clubs presently constituting these top four next season.

There is an argument that next season Arsenal must capitalise on this situation, but I don't think that it will be easy.

The new managers are hardly new boys on the block, and each of them have had years of experience. They might be taking on new squads, but they know the drill.

The Arsenal defender, Nacho Monreal said that he had trained under Manuel Pellegrini, and that he taught him everything, and that he is 'the best he has ever known' even better than his present manager! A ringing endorsement indeed!

I think that City have a lot to look forward to. Jose Mourinho is already a manager with a proven track record, who will want to drive Chelsea forward with new signings and new ideas, and David Moyes has the backing and clout of a massive club worldwide who already has a culture of winning important competitions.

Although never really having won cups with Everton, Moyes arguably never had the budget to help him to do so. He will have it no, however, and I honestly think that United will still be the one to beat next season.

Therefore, taking everything into account, I don't think that it's going to be an easy ride for any club next time around, and that is why the buying of players in this transfer window is going to be so crucial to all the clubs involved.

Traditionally, deals take place late into the transfer window deadline, a lot taking place on the closing day. Possibly this time the early bird will catch the worm as, with most clubs being on the look out for talent, the good players will not be available for that long.

Do you agree that early signings will be crucial?
