Arsenal's transfer of Yaya Sanogo has cleared a major hurdle, the striker has passed a medical.
The 20-year-old Auxerre striker, who has nine goals in 12 appearances this season, traveled to Arsenal in midweek to take the examination.
The news was confirmed by French website L'Yonne Republicaine, who first broke the news he would be taking a medical at the club earlier this week.
Sanogo passing the medical will come as a sigh of relief all round, considering his medical history - which included a broken tibia and a torn abductor muscle.
French coach Raphael Guerreiro told the newspaper that Sanogo has an unlikely idol, one which may stir up mixed emotions among Arsenal fans.
He said: "He loved Adebayor, he will follow his path."
Arsenal fans will hope that path is not taken too literally, to Manchester City and Tottenham.
Guerreiro admitted that Sanogo will find a more suitable level in the Premier League, suggesting Auxerre could not fulfil his ambition.
"The choice of England fits perfectly in his career, He deserves better than Ligue 2."
Sanogo has since returned to France, with the transfer still incomplete, and is back in training.
Auxerre travel to Nimes in a 7.30pmn fixture on Friday night (tomorrow) and he is expected to feature.
There may just be a number of interested Arsenal fans keeping track of how he gets on.
