A round-up of news and views relating to Chelsea over the past 24 hours.

Chelsea’s attempt to bring Jose Mourinho back to Stamford Bridge has been boosted confirmation that Real Madrid will part company with the 'Special One', with a mutual agreement reached between the two parties. Mourinho failed to win a trophy this year in Spain and club president Florentino Perez said the lack of achievement was not good enough.

Eden Hazard will travel with the Chelsea squad for their mini-tour of the US this month, despite missing the last two games of the season with an injury. Chelsea will play Manchester City twice in America, on the 23rd and the 25th May. John Terry and Ryan Bertrand have been ruled out of the tour with injuries.

Frank Lampard has again hailed Mourinho as the best coach he has worked with, despite his sometimes controversial public persona:

“He might rub people up the wrong way. [But] as a manager, he's brilliant with his team, tactically, he's brilliant with individuals and I think he's brilliant with the press. I know it creates a storm, but he does protect his players."

Petr Cech has urged Chelsea to appoint a new manager quickly to give them the best chance of challenging for the Premier League title next season.

Despite not having a manager in place yet, Chelsea are reportedly pushing ahead with transfer for Bayer Leverkusen forward Andre Schurrle and Southampton left back Luke Shaw. 17-year-old Shaw is rated at around £10million by Southampton, and is seen as a long term replacement for Ashely Cole.

Fernando Torres has said he is aiming for an even better season next year, after finishing with 22 goals for Chelsea next year. The striker also said that he though Chelsea’s lack of consistency cost them a shot at the Premier League title, but they can improve next season.

Thibaut Courtois would like to stay on loan at Atletico Madrid next season rather than sit on Chelsea’s bench. The goalkeeper is hoping to challenge in a place for Belgium’s World Cup squad for the competition in Brazil next year.

Galatasaray have apparently ruled out a move for Chelsea captain John Terry. The defender only has one year left on his contract at Stamford Bridge, and has become a bit part player for Chelsea this season, but the Turkish club are not planning to make a move for him this summer.

On HITC today, we look at another excellent Belgian youngster Chelsea could use in the deal for Schurrle, and also Rafa Benitez’ absence from Chelsea’s lap of honour yesterday.
