Former Liverpool defender and captain Jamie Carragher has admitted saying goodbye to the club was difficult. Carragher played his last match for Liverpool in the 1-0 win over QPR and he’s admitted to getting emotional when he was subbed off to a standing ovation around Anfield.

Brendan Rodgers has expressed his regret at not being able to work with Jamie Carragher for longer. Rodgers has experienced life with Carragher for just a single season, having joined the club as boss last summer after moving from Swansea City. Rodgers was not able to talk him out of his decision to retire.

Liverpool would have qualified for the Champions League if all shots that hit the woodwork over the 2012/2013 season counted as goals. Stats released by Opta show that Liverpool, and Tottenham Hotspur, would have made the biggest European club cup tournament.

Liverpool have been offered fresh hope in their pursuit of Swansea city central defender Ashley Williams. The centre back has refused to confirm or deny that he will be leaving the Swans this summer insisting that he’s only focused on his summer holiday after a difficult season.

Liverpool teenager Jordon Ibe is targeting regular first team football next season. Ibe was a surprise starter in the side which beat Queens Park Rangers on the final day of the season. Ibe comes from the same youth system which saw Raheem Sterling step up to the first team at the start of the season.

West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce says he is keen to build a team around striker Andy Carroll. Carroll is due to return to Anfield shortly now the season is over but the Hammers boss has maintained he would like to sign the big forward on a permanent deal.

Liverpool’s Brazilian midfielder Lucas has pledged to get back to his best form for the club. Lucas has been playing well after an early season injury but he’s admitted he’s still not anywhere near his best form, which he hopes to produce from the start of next season.

Hamburg coach Thorsten Fink has played down the departure of star striker Son Heung-Min. The forward has been linked with a possible summer move to Anfield but that has now been thrown into doubt as Fink has revealed he doesn’t want the forward to leave.

The assault charge against Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling has been dropped. Sterling had been accused of assaulting a woman last year, which led to a lot of media interest in the case. The witness supporting the claims failed to turn up at court and the case was thrown out.
