Alvaro Negredo has effectively ruled himself out of a transfer to Tottenham by stating he wants only to sign for a side who can offer him Champions League football.
The Sevilla star has scored 20 La Liga goals this season in 32 starts, and is likely to move this summer to ease any financial trouble at the club.
Fiorentina and Inter Milan are two sides who have expressed an interest in him, while even West Ham, Everton and Swansea have been credited with interest this year.
But could and should Arsenal take an interest?
The Gunners appear pre-occupied with Stevan Jovetic and Gonzalo Higuain - but Negredo has outscored both of them.
In all competitions Jovetic has 13 goals and five assists for Fiorentina, while Higuain has 16 goals and nine assists for Real.
Negredo who at 27-years-old is four years older than Jovetic and two senior of Higuain, has 26 goals in all competitions and five assists.
Clearly he is coming off the back of a superb individual season, at a club in Sevilla who have endured a tricky campaign, and that confidence could see him hit the ground running for any new club.
In fact it is the superb season which has given him the power to stipulate that he would only consider signing for a team in the Champions League, via his agent, meaning Tottenham, who were reported to have pursued him in January should drop their interest.
Negredo is a Spanish international who has been unfairly sidelined for much of his international career with Villa, Torres and Llorente preferred - yet Negredo still has six goals in 14 internationals.
He is seemingly desperate for a shot on the big stage, and he would get that at Arsenal. One criticism could be that he is too similar to Olivier Giroud, yet this does not have to be a bad thing.
Strength in depth is what Arsenal need to sustain a title challenge, and competition for places is only good for the overall direction of the squad.
Higuain and Jovetic are still seemingly Arsenal's top two objectives according to all the latest reports, but if one of them was to fall through, particularly Higuain, then Negredo is a very credible option indeed for the Gunners to be looking at, and one to make Spurs jealous at the same time.
