Aubameyang cries? - Summer exit rumours fuelled for Newcastle and Spurs target

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang reportedly cried at the end of the tie with Marseille fuelling rumours of an impending exit ... but not according to the man himself who denied it on Twitter.

Today is certainly a day of goodbyes and in fact this weekend is with many a footballer and manager going on to pastures new at the end of the current season. Today Everton and Manchester United will say goodbye to their long-serving managers while Chelsea will do the same with Rafa Benitez. In Germany Jupp Heynckes took charge of his last ever Bundesliga match as his side visited his boyhood club Borussia Monchengladbach in an emotional tie.

Then there are the players. Jamie Carragher retires while Phil Neville is expected to do the same. Goodbyes are also expected for Michael Owen and Steve Harper.

In France David Beckham was reduced to tears after being substituted off against Stade Brest for Paris Saint-Germain in what is being called his final ever game. He announced his retirement in the week and he was handed the captaincy for the fixture last night which reduced an emotional England legend to tears as he left the field of play to a standing ovation.

But he is not the only player who has been crying in France apparently and in this case it is good news for Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal. Reported Premier League target Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who is also being watched by Borussia Dortmund, Bayer Leverkusen and Inter Milan, was reportedly reduced to tears after what many believe could be his final game in front of home fans at Saint Etienne.

After the 2-0 win TV cameras appeared to catch him having a cheeky sniffle as he soaked up the atmosphere at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard.

It even saw a barrage of good luck and 'we will miss you' messages sent to the Gabonese strikers official Twitter account.

But hold on fans who would love to see the 20-goal striker at the club as all was not how it seemed. After the game Aubameyang was quick to confirm that whatever people read by the images beamed out to them; he most certainly was not crying.

He confirmed this on his official Twitter page stating ‘Thank you for all your messages but it’s cool but I do not know who made you believe I have cried?’

So messages of goodbye may just be a tad premature.
