Tottenham Hotspur latest: Including Rebic and Villa

David Villa Kick Ups

News and gossip from the past 24 hours at White Hart Lane.

Spurs are said to be leading the chase for RNK Split striker Ante Rebic. The 19-year-old Croatian under-21 international is also being tracked by Italian side Parma and is valued at around £5 million. He is considered a cost-effective addition to Spurs’ flaky looking front-line while they will also look at the likes of David Villa, Leandro Damiao and Christian Benteke.

The news regarding David Villa is that a deal appears to be imminent according to Spanish sources. The Barcelona striker and Spanish record scorer is believed to want a Nou Camp exit this summer after struggling to hold down a regular spot in the first-team in Catalonia. The deal is believed to be worth around £10 million and would see him earn £110,000-a-week.

Quite a macabre story here as it is being reported that One Direction singer Liam Payne squared up to Aaron Lennon at a nightclub in London last night. It is reported that Lennon, Kyle Walker, Tom Huddlestone and Jake Livermore were in the Funky Buddha club and giving a waitress a hard time. Tired of the tirades Payne reportedly walked over to the table and confronted the players in what must have been quite a sight to see.

Tottenham are also said to be interested in bringing in Belgian midfielder Radja Nainggolan. The 25-year-old international is currently with Cagliari and is said to be at the centre of a three-way battle for his signature; with Inter Milan and Napoli also keen on his signature. Nainggolan is said to prefer a move to the Premier League over a stay in Serie A.

Tottenham target Christian Atsu, who played under Andre Villas Boas at FC Porto, could be about to slip through the net. The Ghanaian international has been a long term target of AVB’s at Spurs but it is being reported that the winger is instead likely to sign for Portuguese rivals Benfica in the summer.

Finally and Andros Townsend is set to hold talks with Tottenham Hotspur over his future after impressing while out on loan with QPR at the end of the season. The 21-year-old has earned a place in the England under-21 squad for the European Championships in Israel and no longer wants to go out on any more loan-deals.
