Arsenal are targeting Stevan Jovetic this summer, the Montenegrin attacker who may just revitalise their attack.
So are fans being presented with false and out of date information that the deal could be under threat from Juventus?
It is no secret that Juventus are admirers of Jovetic, they have admitted as such (more later) but have they made a bid for him?
Reports on the internet this morning (May 16) reported yes - with caughtoffside claiming "Juventus Attempt To Hijack Arsenal Move for Stevan Jovetic"
But upon reading the article, their source is an article in Turin based newspaper Tuttosport which is two days old (published on May 14) claiming Juventus had bid €22 million Euros for the player.
Yet this completely ignores comments from Juventus general manager Beppe Marotta yesterday (May 15) where he confirmed there has been no bid for the Fiorentina forward.
He told the press: "Jovetic too is a great, but there are no negotiations. If a player is offered to us by an agent, it doesn’t mean that there are talks going on.”
So yes while he admires Jovetic, there is no action on that interest. This could mean Arsenal are in pole position, but it could also mean a bid may be coming over the next month, but the key message is so far there has not been one.
Of course to play semantics, 'no negotiations' could mean they had an offer rejected, but we will leave that up to you to decide, all we can do is present the facts as they appear to exist.
And the Tuttosport article from May 14 which contained no quotes nor verification of the 'bid' continues to be re-told two days later. It was excusable early on May 15 before Marotta's denial, with the Express one national newpaper which did reproduce the claims.
But now on May 16 when the denied reports continue to surface - others referencing the Express, we simply feel it's right that Arsenal fans have all the up to date information to hand so they can make their own minds up.
The best thing is for fans to hope the club qualify for the Champions League and hope the big deals quickly come to fruition as a reward in the following days, without worrying about what is going on elsewhere for now.
Are you confident the club will sign Jovetic?
