News and gossip form the past 24 hours at The Emirates.
QPR goalkeeper Julio Cesar has remained coy over his future in the face of Arsenal transfer talk. There has been much conjecture recently that the Brazilian international, who is expected to leave Loftus Road this summer after the clubs relegation, will be on his way to The Emirates. Arsenal are on the hunt for a new goalkeeper after poor performances from Wojciech Szczesny this campaign and a lack of faith regarding the fitness of back-up Lukasz Fabianski. Cesar has however refused to be drawn on the issue.
One potential keeper target that looks increasingly unlikely to be on his way to North London is Hamburg stopper Rene Adler. The German is eager to stay at the Imtech Arena for the foreseeable future but also understands that considering the clubs current precarious financial situation he may have to leave for the benefit of his current employers.
Chelsea keeper Petr Cech cannot grasp why the clubs would have to play-off for a third place at the end of the season. If Arsenal are to win 2-1 and Chelsea draw 0-0 the two will have to play at a neutral venue to decide who qualifies automatically for Europe in third place. But the Czech Republic goalkeeper cannot believe the Premier League does not take into account the head-to-head record between the two teams; which would see Chelsea triumph with their two victories.
Arsenal defender Bacary Sagna has been linked with Anzhi Makhachkala today. The French international has previously spoken about his indecision over his Arsenal future and with his contract set to expire in 2014 rumours persist he will be flogged this summer. The Russian side are ready to offer him a massive contract to lure him away.
Maraoune Chamakh has opened the door to a return to Bordeaux after admitting he was unlikely to return to Arsenal at the end of the season. The Moroccan international is currently in the midst of an unsuccessful loan deal at West Ham United and has failed to live up to Premier League expectations since arriving in North London. His return to Ligue 1 would however rely on a paycut.
Finally and on the site we have looked at the possibility of Arsenal signing long-term transfer target Gokhan Inler. The Napoli midfielder is being used as bait in a deal with Inter Milan at the moment which suggests he is no longer wanted at the Stadio San Paolo.
