Liverpool latest: Including Barca swap mooted and Carragher job offer

All of the up to date important news and information about Liverpool.

Liverpool have been linked with a sensational swap deal, which could see Cristian Tello move to Anfield with Pepe Reina going to Barcelona. Reina has been linked with a move to the Nou Camp for most of this year but has said he’s not interested in moving to Spain.

West Ham United are being tipped to up their initial planned offer to retain Andy Carroll. Reports suggested the Hammers would only offer an initial fee of £7 million to retain the striker, currently on loan from Liverpool. Brendan Rodgers may be willing to do a deal if that fee is increased.

Liverpool chairman Tom Werner has said there is a job for Jamie Carragher at the club if he wants it. Carragher has signed a deal to represent Sky Sports next season but Werner has suggested they will leave the door open for him to return to the club at some point in the future.

Liverpool face competition for the transfer of 20-year-old defender Tiago Ilori of Sporting Lisbon. Valencia are reportedly ready to try and hijack any attempt from the Anfield side to put a cheap deal together, which will see him added to the youth teams at Liverpool.

Long term Liverpool transfer target Tom Ince has been offered a new contract by Blackpool. Ince would have been available on a free transfer at the end of this season but the move seems to be designed by Blackpool to tie him down to the club for the long term, making it harder for Liverpool to poach him.

Jamie Carragher says his biggest regret as a Liverpool player is not having won the Premier League. The defender plays his last match for the club this weekend before he retires to take on a role with Sky Sports for the 2013/2014 season as a pundit and commentator.

The saga surrounding the future of Christian Eriksen looks set to conclude with an increasing number of reports suggesting Borussia Dortmund are closing on a deal. Liverpool have been linked with the Dane for most of the season but Dortmund’s loss of key personnel seems to have forced their hand.

Liverpool are set to hand a long term contract to 17-year-old defender Lloyd Jones who featured as a sub for last weekend’s match at Fulham. The move is another example of the superb youth policy Liverpool have put into effect which has seen several youngsters make first team appearances this season.

Brendan Rodgers has insisted that more club legends show their faces around the club and Anfield. Rodgers seems to want to enhance the identity of the football club as part of his youth team development, ensuring the younger players know about Liverpool’s history and meaning.
