Sir Alex Ferguson urged Manchester United fans to go and watch the Under-21 side take on Liverpool and any who took his advice would not have been disappointed, as they secured a comfortable 3-0 victory.
It was a parting shot by Fergie to try and give the youngsters a bit more support and to try and create an atmosphere at the match which they aren’t normally used to.
Talented 20-year-old striker Larnell Cole bagged all three goals as United saw off Liverpool’s Development Squad, who have been rated as one of the best groups of young players in the country this season.
Two of his goals came from the penalty spot following poor pieces of defensive work by the Liverpool back four, but Cole is working very hard to grab the attention of imminent new United boss David Moyes.
Both penalties were slotted home in cool fashion, deceiving the goalkeeper admirably and his third was a solid long range strike which filtered through a forest of bodies on its way into the net.

Could Cole get some first team games next season?
