Take-Two reveals sales figures in latest financial report; reports boost in net revenue.
Critically lauded Bioshock Infinite has seen sales hit 3.7 million to date since its launch late last March, according to figures released by Take-Two.
The company's 2K Games arm, responsible for the smash-hit title, touted the near universal positive praise the game received in the company's financial year results.
Combined with other successful launches during the past 12 months, Take-Two saw net revenue jump to $1.2 billion compared to $825 million last year.
“Take-Two delivered strong revenue growth and solid non-GAAP earnings for fiscal year 2013, driven by robust demand for our groundbreaking new releases, iconic catalog titles and expanding portfolio of digitally delivered offerings,” said Strauss Zelnick, Chairman and CEO of Take-Two.
“With BioShock Infinite, Borderlands 2, NBA 2K13 and XCOM: Enemy Unknown, our 2K label released four of the past year’s most critically acclaimed titles. Our commitment to delight consumers with the highest-quality interactive entertainment experiences enabled Take-Two to have an outstanding year, despite a challenging environment for many in our industry."
The company also expects the upcoming release of Grand Theft Auto V to continue to provide robust sales.
A hugely popular franchise, the company's shares and sales spiked following the release of Grand Theft Auto IV, while it is also worth nothing that just ahead of the release of the title in 2008 rival publisher EA attempted a hostile take-over.
