Mass Effect devs chat about spin-off

Mass Effect Garrus

Game makers suggest fan favourite Garrus could take a lead role.

Following the end of sci-fi epic series Mass Effect, developers Dusty Everman and Casey Hudson discuss possible spin-offs without former protagonist Commander Shepard.

Speaking with OXM, the BioWare devs debated which of the many support characters could pick up where Commander Shepard left off, and both seemed to think alien Garrus would make the best story.

"It'd be cool to do something completely unrelated to the larger storyline, like a story about a private investigator on the Citadel. Or maybe something detailing Garrus' time in C-Sec," commented Hudson.

Everman was more explicit with how he'd see the series develop, pointing out that Garrus had some of the most driven personal goals in the series.

“He's a hero in his own right, as Archangel and beyond. Who wouldn't want to see the further adventures of the bold, charming Garrus Valkarian (there's a lot of guns out there to calibrate),” he explained.

Additionally, the developers pointed out that Aria was also a strong potential lead, having already starred in her own DLC campaign.
