Arsenal weekend round-up: Including Wilshere and Williams

News and gossip from the past 48 hours at The Emirates.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has remained adamant that he has not been in contact at all with Paris Saint-Germain about potentially taking over from Carlo Ancelotti who is destined to take over at Real Madrid. The Frenchman is believed to be the Parisiens number one target to take over from the Italian former Chelsea boss but he insists that so far no contact has been had between the pair.

Bayern Munich are reportedly keen to sign Arsenal starlet Jack Wilshere. Incoming Bavarian boss Pep Guardiola is said to be a massive fan of the young England international after he impressed him on several occasions in the Champions League and he is ready to test the resolve of the Arsenal hierarchy with a bid for the player. While he does not expect to sign him this summer it is reported that another season without silverware might see him leave North London.

Arsenal’s game with Wigan Athletic on Tuesday has suddenly been given added importance after results this weekend. Spurs defeated 10-man Stoke City after a late goal from Emmanuel Adebayor gave them all three points. It sees their North London rivals leapfrog them into the final champions league place although Arsenal have a game in hand on their rivals.

Adebayor’s crucial goal came after he declared he was ready to ‘kill’ his former club if it will result in Spurs finishing in the Champions League places.

Arsenal are reportedly on the brink of signing Swansea City defender Ashley Williams according to Goal.com. Arsenal held talks with the Welsh captains representatives in April and it now appears the final I’s and T’s need to be crossed on a deal that will cost £8 million. This comes after Liverpool pulled out of the race as the board would not sanction the deal.

Arsenal have become the latest club linked with a move for AS Roma playmaker Miralem Pjanic. The Bosnian made his name with French outfit Lyon but is now expected to leave Roma after the exit of coach Zdenek Zeman earlier in the campaign. Tottenham and Manchester City are also in the hunt.

Finally and the man who said Arsenal were not good enough for his team-mate Stevan Jovetic has claimed that the Montenegrin is suffering at the club due to a lack of support from his own fans. Luca Toni is the man in question and it comes amidst a surge in speculation over his future.
