It was not long ago that Arsenal fans were sitting hopeful of Pep Guardiola potentially taking over from a then ailing Arsene Wenger at The Emirates. Now however you would be far pushed to find an Arsenal fan who is not sick of the Barcelona gaffer.
Once again he is reportedly on the brink of snapping up a player from Arsenal for his next venture. Laurent Koscielny has been strongly linked with a move to the Allianz Arena as the man highly linked to be the Spaniard’s number one choice to strengthen the back-line.
But now the news has hit that it is also the clubs most promising young player who is in the crosshairs of the former Barcelona supremo.
According to several sources Jack Wilshere has been identified as a key figure if Bayern Munich are to continue their dominance on the continent.
While he is unlikely to leave this summer another year without silverware might just tip the scales of balance in favour of a potential move.
Guardiola was said to be a huge fan of Wilshere after witnessing him put in excellent performances against the Blaugrana in the teams several Champions League ding-dongs over the years.
But it is not just the players he is now keeping tabs on that makes Arsenal fans irritated at the mere mention of his name.
He has already stolen players from The Gunners before; so Arsenal fans will know he often gets what he wants.
In 2011 Guardiola successfully prised Cesc Fabregas away from The Emirates with a £35 million deal that saw the then-24-year-old return to his home club from North London.
He also set the wheels in motion for Alex Song’s arrival under Tito Villanova last summer so the fact is that he certainly likes the way the Arsenal players perform; he just wants to turn that into trophies.
Losing Koscielny would be bad. He has been in excellent form toward the end of the season and top quality centre-backs are at a premium.
However losing Wilshere would be a whole new level of disappointment for the Arsenal faithful. This is not only a player who has incredible talent, potential and ability; but he is also a home grown talent. One of their own and surely a future captain of the club losing him to Guardiola’s German revolution would stick like razorblades in the throat of Arsenal’s fans; and condemn their relationship with Guardiola to the perpetually icy.
Do you think Wilshere could go to Bayern Munich?
