Tottenham Hotspur latest: Including Dembele injury and Anderson

All the news and gossip from the past 24 hours at White Hart Lane.

Andre Villas-Boas is waiting on the fitness of Moussa Dembele who is struggling with a niggling hamstring injury. The Belgian did not feature in the game with Chelsea in midweek and has sat out training for the entire week while going to Holland for treatment. Emmanuel Adebayor has a slight knee problem but should feature. Jan Vertonghen may be moved to left-back to counter-act the physical prowess of Stoke City.

Long-time transfer target Patrick Herrmann does not look likely to be arriving at White Hart Lane after the German signed a new deal with his Bundesliga outfit Borussia Monchengladbach. The pacy winger had been on the radar of Spurs for a while now but he has extended his deal until 2016.

Spurs may be on the verge of a surprising transfer swoop as it is now believed they will be after Manchester United midfielder Anderson. The Brazilian has struggled with form and fitness this season and is considered to be on his way out of Old Trafford. The 25-year-old would shore up a midfield that looks susceptible to injury problems.

Sunderland want to make the loan spell of left-back Danny Rose a permanent deal. The youngster has been in great form this season and is expected to come back and challenge Benoit Assou-Ekotto for the starting spot at the club next season. However Paolo Di Canio wants to snap up the full-back for his own plans next season.

PSV Eindhoven manager Dick Advocaat has expressed his belief that Kevin Strootman needs to move to the Premier League in order to continue his development. He mentioned Spurs by name as one of the clubs that would best suit his current star player even though he has been more strongly linked with the likes of Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool in recent weeks.
