Inter Milan don’t seem to have taken being trounced by Juventus in Serie A very lightly, which has led to them becoming the latest giant side trying to offer Cesc Fabregas a way out of his Barcelona nightmare.
Inter are so keen to sign Cesc, they claimed by Corrierre dello Sport to be preparing an offer which would see goalkeeper Handanovic head to the Nou Camp as part of the deal.
Fabregas has been linked with a move back to former side Arsenal, but Inter Milan have now come to the table with various reports suggesting they will offer big money and players to ensure they get their man.
Fabregas has not been able to surpass the likes of Xavi and Andres Iniesta at Barcelona, in terms of making him a first choice midfielder in Tito Vilanova’s side.
He’s made 28 appearances this season, with two as a sub scoring ten goals and providing 13 assists which are numbers that suggest although he’s not first choice, Barca won’t want to let him go.
Therefore, he could find the chance to go to any side where he is guaranteed a place very tempting, if that side puts together an official bid and places it on the table.
Fabregas can fit into most sides around Europe and the world, because he is a superb skill and possession player who can not only create chances but score goals at the same time.
If Inter get a deal together and put it before Barcelona, they could well take it because their own shortcomings in the Champions League this season may force them into some big transfers this summer.
If that happens then it’s a big sign that Fabregas will never be going back to the Gunners because they would surely be his first choice destination should he choose to leave Spain.
He doesn’t seem like the sort of journeyman who is going to move around too many times in his career suggesting a low number of moves with complete loyalty to the clubs he represents.
That could be the reason he seems so reluctant to leave Barcelona at the moment, because they went all out to take him back when they’d originally sold him to the Gunners as a teenager.
A move to Inter would have the effect of tarnishing his already huge reputation as an Arsenal great, despite the fact he only played the very early part of his career at the Emirates Stadium.
He at least should give Arsenal the chance of putting an official bid together if his availability becomes public knowledge because all of the reports have suggested they want him back.
Do you think he’ll join Inter after playing down a return to Arsenal or are the Italians wasting their time?
