Which players should Liverpool fans be most interested in securing the services of this summer.
This week like no other at this time of year has seen Liverpool linked with signing a number of players.
But who are the best for fans to keep an eye on? Which players should supporters be crossing their fingers arrive at Anfield this summer?
Fear not for here are our weekly rankings of the top six players which would most benefit the Reds:
In the interests of not generating a repetitious list each week;players featured in last week's column are not eligible. These are David Villa, Tiago Ilori, Loic Remy, Lucas Biglia, Abdisalim Ibrahim and Alex Pearce.
This week's top six...
1) Cristian Tello
Barcelona forward Cristian Tello was linked with a switch to Liverpool this week by Spanish newspaper Marca who claimed the Reds are 'determined' to sign the 21-year-old. Tello makes the number one spot on our list due to his exciting potential and young age. He has scored seven goals in 11 starts for Barcelona in La Liga this season and has a release clause of 10 million Euros. With his preference to play on the left of a front three in attack, Tello could fit ideally into Liverpool's system.
2) Jackson Martinez
Porto striker Jackson Martinez was on Liverpool's radar last summer, but the Reds did not pursue interest with him heading to Porto instead. There the Colombian has been a sensation, scoring 28 goals in 36 games in the Primera Liga. The Express claimed this week that the Reds are going to battle Dortmund for his signature. However whether Liverpool will pay the £25 million Porto want make a move doubtful unless he ends up being a replacement for Suarez who fans do not want to be sold. Whether Martinez is prepared to move to a club without European football is another reason to doubt this one.
3) Burak Yilmaz
It could quite easily be 2012 with the two of the first three names on this list, as Burak Yilmaz was also strongly linked with Liverpool last summer. He went to Galatasaray for £5 million and scored eight goals in the Champions League this season. The Express, again, claimed Liverpool are still interested in the forward this week, even though we doubt this is a transfer they could now pull off for similar reasons to Martinez, but if they did then he would too be a lethal addition to their forward line.
4) Victor Wanyama
Liverpool joining the race for Celtic's Victor Wanyama was revealed by the Mirror earlier this week and there is no question the powerful midfielder would be a great addition at Anfield. Wanyama would be a perfect complement and stand-in for Lucas in midfield and is very highly rated. Manchester United and Arsenal are also in the hunt along with Southampton for the Kenyan who scored against Barcelona earlier this campaign.
Liverpool have been linked with a swoop for Brazilian defender Douglas who is available on a free transfer this summer. The 25-year-old centre-back has let his contract at FC Twente run down, who turned down a £4 million bid from Newcastle last summer. The Mail claim he is wanted as a Carragher replacement and on a free transfer he would certainly be a wise addition. As he has a Dutch passport there would be no work permit issues to negotiate.
6) Ashley Williams
Liverpool were once again linked with signing Swansea City's Ashley Williams this week, with the Welsh side said to have placed a £10 million price tag on the centre-back. However when compared with Douglas, who is younger and importantly £10 million cheaper, Williams is the less attractive option of the two.
